With this extra large quilt, Katie balances shapes, marks, colours and textures to create satisfying compositions and tensions that draw the viewer in close. She uses the blocky, repetitive nature of screen printing to create depth and fluidity, exploring materiality and surface.
Generous double bed size, or perfect as an extra large wall hanging.
Hand quilted using cotton sashiko thread, with organic bamboo wadding. Bound with organic cotton and linen on my great grandmother’s hand crank Singer sewing machine and hand finished.
