Join print designer and artist Katie Charleson at her textile studio in Leith on this full day course and get an introduction to the key techniques involved in using procion dyes to screen print textiles.
The workshop includes:
how to prepare your own designs ready for the screen
transferring your design onto screen using our equipment
preparing fabric and setting up your print
mixing procion inks
following dye and binder recipes
solid colour procion dye printing
poly-chromatic procion dye printing
lots of time to practice your print technique and get a bit inky!
You’ll have the opportunity to play with colour in an expressive and gestural way and you’ll go away with a 100cm x 50cm piece of linen of your own dye printed design and samples of all of the techniques you’ll have learned that day. You’ll also be given the dye and binder recipes Katie uses.
This workshop covers the style of printing Katie uses most often and she will show you how to achieve multi colour mono-prints by painting onto screen. This class is suitable for those who already have some textile print experience.
